The number of accidents reported this year, however, was below the figure registered during last year’s Christmas Eve and Christmas celebrations.

Most of the injured were treated at Pedro Lagleyze Eye Hospital, Santa Lucia Hospital and the burn hospital, where doctors said the majority of the patients were minors.

Last year, according to medical reports, 143 people were treated at these hospitals for fireworks accidents and injuries from uncorking bottles.
