Haneef phones family, tells them not to worry

Bangalore : Bangalore doctor Mohammad Haneef, in detention in Brisbane in connection with the failed British terror plot, Wednesday told his wife Firdous here that he is fine and the family should not worry.


Haneef was allowed to talk only for one minute, Firdous told reporters.

This was the first time Haneef talked to his wife after his detention nine days ago in Brisbane when he was on his way to India on a one-way ticket.

Though it was only for a minute, the family is greatly relieved, said Firdous, who gave birth to a girl on June 26.

She did not want to say anything more on Haneef's detention or related issues.Haneef is a cousin of Kafeel Ahmed and Sabeel Ahmed who are being held in Britain in connection with the terror plot.
