Kashmiri Militants attack Cop’s house, shot dead two

Jammu: Suspected militants shot dead two persons, including a police personal, in Gool area of district Udhampur, last on Sunday night official sources told News Agency of Kashmir.

The deceased have been identified as Constable Khurshid Malik of Ramban Police station and Mohd Saleem, brother of a surrendered militant. The wife of police cop is among two persons injured in the shootout.

Reports reaching here said that a group of armed men suspected to be the militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (Bilo Gujjar group) barged into the house of a constable Malik in village Moila where he had come to spend a night and fired indiscriminately on the family members.

Sources said that the constable Khurshid had gone to Gool on official duty and went to spent night in his native village.

They said that suspected militants attacked them at about 2 am, and killed both cop and another on the spot.

The militants managed to flee from the spot after the shoot out, reports added. The injured were shifted to Ramban hospital in the morning where their condition was stated to be critical.

Sources said that army and police launched a search operation in the area to track down the militants. The operation was in progress, when the last report came in.
