Kubica fine after F1 crash

Montreal : BMW-Sauber driver Robert Kubica has spoken to medics and is reported to be not injured after a serious crash at the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix here Sunday.

A BMW physician told journalists that Kubica was fully conscious and in a good condition after the crash, which wrecked his car, on lap 26.

Kubica's manager also said he had spoken to the driver who appeared to be fine.

The Polish driver has been taken to Montreal general hospital for further check-ups.

Kubica's car touched Jarno Trulli's Toyota at full speed, left the track and smashed into the barriers before somersaulting back onto the track shortly after a safety car phase.

The car came to a halt at the side of the track with only one wheel left attached to the cockpit of the car.

Kubica was initially motionless inside the car as a safety car phase was deployed for a second time.
