AFMI condoles Maulana Abdul Kareem Parekh’ death

Farmington(Michigan, USA): The American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI) has condoled the passing away of eminent Islamic scholar Maulana Abdul Kareem Parekh.

Dr.Shakir Mukhi, President of AFMI, described Padma Bhushan Maulana Parekh as a great religious scholar and social worker who was always concerned about the plight of the community. “In his passing away we have lost a religious and social leader who worked for the welfare of the people throughout his life. May Allah bless his soul and grant patience to his family. ” Dr.Mukhi added.

Dr.A.S.Nakadar, AFMI Trustee, in his tributes said, “Maulana Parekh’s towering personality and his scholarly approach to our contemporary issues will be missed by the Muslims all over the world especially the Indian Muslims. His passing away is a terrible loss to all of us. People all over the world will remember him for his outstanding work on Qura’n’s tafsir and its grammar that made easy for people to understand the Qura’n. ”

Maulana Parekh was the recipient of AFMI’s Pride of India award and had attended AFMI conventions in India and the USA.

Renowned Islamic scholar, Maulana Parekh died September 11th, 2007 in Mumbai. He was founder member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He was awarded civilian award Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2001 for his social work activities.
