The ATS approached the Jamnagar court seeking seven-day remand for Mahesh Parab and Anil Jagtap, and Additional Senior Judge A.A. Nanavati granted the appeal.

The two professionals were arrested near the Jamnagar-Khambaliya highway Dec 6 after villagers in the region reported to police about their suspicious movement.

The two told the Jamnagar police that they had been doing the survey from Dec 5 which was to continue till Dec 15.

Their employer, Mumbai-based Biond Softwares Pvt Ltd, said the two were working on a map-making project contracted by Nokia Navigator and submitted all documentary evidence to the ATS.

Police, however, are not willing to take chances as the 10 terrorists who stuck Mumbai had travelled close to the sea shore of this region during their journey from Karachi, and were using a global positioning system (GPS) instrument, according to investigators.
