National Minority Rights Award for Shabnam Hashmi and Inderjit Kaur

New Delhi: Noted activists Shabnam Hashmi and Dr. Inderjit Kaur were presented the National Minority Rights Award for 2008.

The award by National Commission for Minorities is given for outstanding contribution in safeguarding and promoting the constitutional and legal rights of the minorities of India.

Dr. Kaur is a Padma Bhushan awardee and has been chosen for this award for her work for communal harmony.

Shabnam Hashmi is founder of ANHAD (Act Now for Harmony and Democracy) and has done lot of work for the victims of communal violence especially after Gujarat riots of 2002.
