Death toll from Jordan bus accident rises to 22

Amman : The death toll from Saturday’s traffic accident on a highway between the Jordanian capital of Amman and the northern city of Irbid rose to 22, The Jordan Times reported on Monday.

A public transportation bus carrying 48 passengers collided with a water tanker near Salhoub Bridge north of Amman, causing the Kingdom’s most serious road accident in two years.

The official news agency Petra reported on Saturday that 20 people were killed and 16 others injured in the accident.

However, the death toll rose as many of the survivors were seriously injured.

Among the injuries in hospitals, several were still in critical condition, said director of Jerash Hospital Yousef Quqaza.

He added that all medical cadres in the governorate were put on alert to provide medical aid to the injured.
