Two U.S. soldiers killed in bomb attacks in Baghdad

Baghdad : Two American soldiers were killed in bomb attacks during the past two days in Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Monday.

A soldier was killed on Sunday when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb explosion in northeastern the capital, a military statement said.

A second soldier was killed on Saturday when a roadside bomb went off near his unit during a foot patrol near Baghdad’s northern neighborhood of Kadhimiyah, another statement said.

The soldiers’ names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statements said.

The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to about 3,935 since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
