Lucknow : Angered at not receiving salaries for several months, a teacher in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh Wednesday shot dead the district inspector of schools (DIOS), police said.
Anjani Shanker, the teacher at the Raj Inter College in Jaunpur, over 200 km from here, fired at Dinesh Chandra Pandey when the latter was resting in his cabin.
“After firing two shots at the DIOS, the teacher managed to escape. We are on the look-out for Shanker and will arrest him soon,” Superintendent of Police Chandra Prakash told IANS.
After the incident, Pandey was rushed to a district hospital in Jaunpur, but was later referred to a private nursing home in Varanasi where he succumbed to his bullet injuries, police said.
