Two commit suicide, another slits wrist after failing exams

Kanpur : Two students committed suicide while another slit her wrist Friday in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district after failing in the state board’s class 10 exams, the police said.

Roopali Rajput, a student of Kaushalya Devi Inter College, committed suicide at her residence in Safed Colony here by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.

Neeraj Verma, a student of Hanumant Vidya Mandir, also took the extreme step in a similar way after being scolded by his father for failing in the exams, Kanpur Superintendent of Police (east) Manoj Shanker said.

In the third incident, Sadhana Kumari, a student of Gurunanak Inter college, slit her wrist after she came to know from her friends that she failed to clear the exams.

Sadhana is undergoing treatment in the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in the city, police said.
