African Muslim students released in Hyderabad

New Delhi: The Muslim African students who were arrested last month in Hyderabad by local police for allegedly overstaying have been released by the local court on November 10.

About 30 students of Somalia and Ethiopia who are studying in Andhra Pradesh were picked by the police on October 28 alleging that their visas had expired and they were living in India illegally.

According to Amjed Ullah Khan of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) they were arrested in a fake case and they have been released by the sessions court.

Advocate Muzaffer Ullah Khan (legal Cell of MBT) fought their case free of charge.

MBT chief Amjed Ullah Khan along with Dr. Mohamud Mohamed Elmi of Embassy of Republic of Somalia visited the Chanchalguda Central Jail and met them after their release and assured them of all help.

Amjed Ullah Khan was in the forefront taking up the case of the African students. He had given details to TwoCircles.net the day after they were arrested. He told that the police team had raided Humayun Nagar, Mehdipatnam and Jubli Hill areas and picked up 50 African Muslim students. They were not allowed even to change clothes. About 20 of them were let free allegedly on receiving amount and 30 were sent to Chanchalguda jail.
