He would also attend the press briefings of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister on November 14. Later, Dr. Arshi would also attend the same with the President Mehmet Ali Talat at Lefkosha.

He would be one of the guests to be hosted by the Speaker of Parliament Ms. Fatma Ekenoglu in the evening of November 14. Official ceremonies and parade of 25th celebrations of the establishment of the TRNC would be organized. On November 15, he would attend the Reception hosted by the President.

It may be pointed out here that Dr. Arshi Khan specializes on Turkey and Mediterranean. His scholarly papers on Cyprus are published in Northern Cyprus, Italy and India besides his other publication in different Western countries. Northern Cyprus stands as a separate country after the failure of the peace process started after 1967 and 1975. It has representatives in various European bodies.

It was in the year 2004 when Turkish Cypriots showed their courage to vote for the unification of the divided island but their efforts were defeated by the negative vote of Greek Cypriots. As a result, the European Union too has to develop soft corners for TRNC. ([email protected])
