“His Holiness (the Dalai Lama) is fine and will attend a school function of Tibetan children in Dharamsala Saturday morning,” Tenzin Taklha, a senior aide to the exiled leader, told IANS.

The spiritual leader had reached his private residence Oct 20 after spending a few days in Delhi. The Dalai Lama, 73, was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Oct 9, where he underwent a gall bladder surgery the next day.

Taklha said the Nobel Peace laureate would visit Japan from Nov 4 where he will deliver lectures at Fukuoka and Tokyo.

During the past two months, the Dalai Lama had cancelled his trips to Europe, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

After returning from Japan, he is set to visit Pune, Meerut and Delhi for delivering sermons in the second week of November.

However, the Dalai Lama’s office has postponed the spiritual guru’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh till next year.

The Dalai Lama, on the invitation of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, was to visit various monasteries at Tawang, Itanagar and Bomdila next month.

“The tour to Arunachal Pradesh has been postponed till March next year due to certain reasons,” Taklha said.

The Dalai Lama has lived in India since fleeing his homeland in 1959 after a Chinese army crackdown. His government-in-exile, which is not recognised by any country, is based here.
