Referring to the Sunday’s attack on BJP parliamentarian Yogi Adityanath in Azamgarh district, senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra said, “The incident clearly reflects that Uttar Pradesh, especially eastern region of the state, has transformed into a centre of unlawful elements.”

Mishra was speaking to reporters in the evening.

He accused the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government of not taking enough measures to counter terror activities in the state.

“The assault on our parliamentarian exposes the fact that the state government is just not serious to contain terror activities in the state,” Mishra said.

A youth was killed Sunday and three people were injured in arson and communal violence that followed a rally by Yogi Adityanath in Azamgarh.

Violence erupted as some people pelted stones at slogan-shouting youth riding on about 150 motorcycles through a Muslim dominated locality.
