The incident occurred in Etawah district, some 250 km from here.

“The deceased, Sughar Singh, committed suicide late Thursday by consuming poison in his house in the Bharthana locality, and a suicide note was also recovered from the spot,” a release from the office of the director general of police stated Friday.

The suicide note mentioned the name of legislator Bhimrao Ambedkar, from Lakhna constituency of Etawah, and six of his associates.

“Sughar was allotted land by the gram panchayat and the legislator sanctioned money to construct a marriage hall on the same land to another party. This forced my brother to commit suicide,” Surjan Singh stated in his complaint to the police.

An FIR has been lodged and investigations are under process.
