Shibu Soren returns from Dumka without campaigning

By IANS,

Ranchi : Former Jharkhand chief minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren Monday arrived in Dumka constituency, from where he is conesting the Lok Sabha election, but left without addressing any meetings.

Soren arrived in Dumka Monday morning in a chartered plane from New Delhi, where he was undergoing treatment in All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), and left for his home in Bokaro after a two-hour-stay.

“I have not come here to seek votes,” said a weak-looking Soren, who was unable to speak in his characteristic style.

Apart from fighting from the Dumka Lok Sabha, Soren is contesting the byelection from Jamtara assembly constituency.

According to JMM sources, Soren came to Dumka to enthuse the party workers and send the message to the voters that he was ill but alive. “Soren does not need campaigning. He arrived in Dumka just to show his face. His presence was enough to create his magic among the voters,” a JMM leader told IANS.

“There was confusion among the voters regarding Guruji (as Soren is known by his supporters). The confusion has been cleared after he arrived in Dumka. Doctors have advised him not to address any rally or participate in any campaigning,” the leader said.

Soren has been ailing for last three months after he resigned as chief minister Jan 12. He is suffering from urinary tract infection and cardiac problems.
