JN Medical College upgradation: Central team visits AMU, meets VC

New Delhi: A ten member Central Government technical committee for appraisal of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University for upgradation on par with All India Institute of Medical Sciences today visited the University and met the Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Union Cabinet has approved an amount of Rs. 150 crores for AMU’s J N Medical College upgradation under the second phase of Pradhan Mantri’s Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY).

The leader of the Technical Committee Dr. Vinayak M. Prasad, Director, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India told the Vice Chancellor that the technical committee would submit its report as soon as possible after inspection of Medical College, said AMU’s media officer Dr Rahat Abrar.

While welcoming the Technical team AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis said that the University has instituted a high power Committee under the Chairmanship of Prof. M. S. Valiathan, a distinguished professor of Bio-material.
The members of the Technical Committee also visited the J. N. Medical College and met all the Chairmen, Departments of Studies of Medicine Faculty.

Prof. S. Abrar Hasan, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Prof. Ashraf Malik, Principal, Medical College and Chief Medical Superintendent also participated in the deliberations.
