Muslim Backward Classes to get reservation within 27% OBC quota: Salman Khurshid

New Delhi: The Government has said that providing reservation to Backward Classes of Muslims minority community within 27% OBC quota is under its active consideration. Minister of Minority Affairs Salman Khurshid gave this information in Lok Sabha today in a written reply.
Dalit Muslims are already part of this quota and Muslims have long demanded that Dalit Muslims should be given same reservation benefit as other Dalits. Ranganath Misra Commission has also recommended removing religious discrimination when it comes to the benefits given to Dalits.

Guys plz for god's sake. do not bring your differential feelings when dealing with the country issues.I sincerely ask do reservations really helped the country to get equality.Do the people who benifited from reservation really helping there community members to uplift there.i had seen no one doing that.is govt prosperous in giving them reservations and making them feel like someone who stole someothers place in universities nad in the jobs.so stop distingushing people by castes.put econ0mic status as the measurment for giving reservations.
atleast ammend the constitution now.create an atmosphere in the people that who talked or distinguished on the caste or religion is the real backward guy.get the dalits into the villages and give them residence there.whenever discussions happen junta plz see we all are indians. try to make indian as the only pride to us.we should show the world what we are but not fighting among ourselves for some guys obbesed with caste or religion or infact anything that differentiates us from being indians.plz

NAZ- the statistics of poverty.
Accepting your contention that "majority of muslims are uneducated,working as labour" let us assume that 80% of Indian Muslims are poor- thus 13 Crore of the 16 Crore Muslims are poor. You would agree that at least 20% HINDUS are also poor. 20% of 90 Crore HINDUS would be 18 Crore poor HINDUS. Statistically 80% MUSLIM POOR compared to 20% HINDU POOR is a massive disparity, but NUMERICALLY there will be more "Hindus poor" than "Muslim Poor" and the difference would be more than FIVE CRORE.
While on the subject why should MUSLIMS of HYDERABAD who were rulers from 1600-1947 be given reservation???? Why should MOPLA MUSLIMS of KERALA who have the unique distinction of having the only village in India where "100% house hold own CAR" be OBC??? Why don't the MUSLIMS fight for economic reservation in which all poor benefit????

AK singh,thanks for your super intelligent comments and concern for poor hindus,but your solution is not acceptable to all brahmins who have reserved 80% of seats for themselves.Even if you try they will demolish your govt.
I have another simple solution which is easy and practical, let all Hindus and Muslims if they have more than 85 grams of Gold as investment with them even after One year Period is over then each and evryone of us should donate 2-5% of all our wealth to all the needy people,within one year our beloved country will become free from poverty,no need to fight for reservations and researching commission reports to identify how many people are poor around us.

MUSLIMS ruled India for 800 years while DALITs faced discrimination - NOT from HINDUS alone but from MUSLIMS too. Hindu Ministers, if ever employed by MUSLIM RULERS were either BRAHMINS, KSHTRIYAS or some times even VISHYAS- but never ever a DALIT!!!!! The HINDU society accepted the error and provided DALITS "reservation", even though the DALITS were never "bred and traded like animals" like the "BLACKS of USA”. How can a HYDRABADI MUSLIM who were the ruling class till 1947 ever equate themselves with the DALITS???????
If MUSLIMS have reached the plight of DALITS in 62 years from 1947, the blame must entirely rest with the MUSLIM community. Progressive ideas were discouraged by MUSLIM LEADERSHIP resulting in the present plight of MUSLIMS. Since PAK/BANGLA does NOT have reservation for DALIT Muslims where has the DALIT MUSLIMS come up in India??? Did all the DALIT MUSLIMS stay back in India in 1947???
Who should be made responsible for our backwardness?
Muslim kings ruled India and not the Muslims, Dalit were coined Dalit by hindus and not by Muslims, Islam isn't cast based but hinduism is. The Dalits came to religion of Islam simply to avoid discrimination from caste based religion.The Hindu society never accepted such blunder mechanism of caste based society, Had they had accepted, they would have abolished hinduism and its rituals of discrimination.
About the blame, I think Blame is to go on Muslims majorly, however a quarter of blame should also be given to Fascist amongst Indian Hindus. As you know Godhra, Babri etc etc, Discrimination is very much in the culture of Hindu society and by any means i didn't mean everyone but yes a majority of Hindu society hates Muslims, sometimes because of thinking of indian muslims as invaders' son/daughters as Mr Thackery used to say, sometimes merely on the basis of religion, sometimes because some outcast-ed muslim youth had chosen to avenge hindus, sometimes because indian muslims were made responsible for partition.
As Jaswant singh pointed out, demonization of Muslim community started right after Independence, the fascist enjoyed the demonization process, Every act of Fascism in Kashmir was called terrorism by muslims, the corrupt nawabs were shown in bad light and whole community was targeted. On the other hand Indian Muslims had lost all their political leaders in partition, no-body was representing them on political space, Politicians promised for breaking them, a few muslim politicians were as corrupt as any body else.
Having said all that, It's Muslims of India who should be made responsible for their backwardness and nobody else. Insha-Allah, We will fight back and win our status in society.

The criteria for reservations must be poverty line, Government must withdrew all reservations and announced new reservation policy by declaring that who ever fall below the poverty line will get reservation regardless to any religion, caste or creed.
