AMU professor to get Association of Microbiologist of India Award

Patna: Dr Asadullah Khan, Associate Professor, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been selected for the prestigious AMI-ALEMBIC Award of 2009 by Association of Microbiologist of India.

He has been nominated for the award for his outstanding contribution in the field of Medical Microbiology.

The Award will be given to him in a ceremony to be held during the meeting of General Body of AMI at National Chemical Laboratory on December 17 in Pune.

Presently, Dr. Asadullah Khan is working on various therapeutic approaches to combat with infections caused by drug-resistant micro-organisms. His research group is actively involved in understanding the molecular mechanism of drug resistance as well as designing new molecules as effective drug candidates.

He has also been awarded with Young Scientist Award of AMI in 2006 and BOYSCAST Fellowship of DST in 2005.

Recently he has published a book on Multi-Drug resistance and his more than 60 research articles have been published in journals of international repute till the date. Apart from that, he is also a member of editorial board of various international journals of his field.
