Ban PDP if there is proof of terror link: Abdunnasir Madani

By TwoCircles.net Staff Reporter,

Kochi: The People’s Democratic Party can be banned if its link with terrorism is proved, said Abdunnasir Madani, chairman of the party. The party can be banned if there is clear evidence of its activists’ role in the terrorist and bomb blast cases in the state in the last five years. The attack against him and his party is the result of the political approach taken by the party in the last election, added Ma’dani.

Madani ruled out the reports that Abdul Haleem, arrested in connection with the Kozhikode twin blasts of 2006, was his personal aide. He said that many people who had been in the PDP left the party when he was in jail. Many of them have joined the Muslim League and the NDF. He added he was not responsible for what they did when no more in the party.

Linking him and PDP with those arrested in connection with terrorism was part of a hidden agenda, Madani added.

In another development, Kummanam Rajasekharan, general secretary of the Hindu Aikyavedi (a Hindutva organization), demanded that organizations like the PDP should be banned to prevent terrorism effectively in the state.
