New Delhi: Promising to give a new hope to the hopeless, a helping hand to the marginalized and a better alternative to those fed up with the Congress and BJP regimes, a national level Muslim political party with strong bases in South India was launched today in New Delhi.
“The Social Democratic Party of India will focus on the realization of a social order political system based on the ideals of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Indian Constitution,” said E Abubacker, president of the party. He was accompanied by other leaders of the new political party. They were addressing media at Press Club of India.

“Other focus areas of the SDPI will be: mobilization of the people to enjoy civil rights through democratic struggles including elections, establishment of governance in the Union and states, capable of fulfilling equal rights to all citizens and all classes in India and unity of all depressed classes in a national political movement, said Abubacker who is former president of Popular Front of India, many of the newly elected officials of SDPI had held positions in PFI.
However, the leaders of SDPI distanced themselves from the PFI saying the new party is independent. When TCN asked Abubacker if PFI’s role for SDPI will be that of RSS for BJP, he denied there will be any such relations. We are independent, he said.
To give the new party a national look the present officials include persons from southern states as well as Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Haryana.
Detailing the context in which the new party was launched, SDPI leaders said: “The basic principles of the Indian Republic face grave threats from both inside and outside. In the past two decades predatory capitalism has vandalized the country. New forces have appeared, but the feudal, upper caste ruling class still exercises great control on the republic. The political camps led by the Congress and the BJP have in fact become midwives to the birth of a new class unbridled in their pursuit of capital accumulation. The regional political parties are also cooperating with this new class.”
Time has come for “a different political strategy in which the Muslims have a very crucial role to play. Muslims hoped against hope that the secular parties would help them. So it is time that they take their fate into their own hands and painstakingly build up a secular political party committed to the cause of achieving adequate representation and equal justice to all classes of people in India. It should be an endeavour covering different states and include all other marginalized classes who remain in the outskirts of our society and polity,” they said.
Talking to TCN after the press conference, E Abubacker said that they will have no alliance with every party whose policies are against the interests of the Muslim community. He said discrimination, security and equity are the major issues concerning Muslims which the party will raise.
The SDPI has launched recruitment of party cadres in 16 states. It plans to constitute state working committee in different states before the National Convention scheduled to be held on October 18 this year in New Delhi. The party has opened its headquarters in the National Capital.

A good school (infrastructure, i.e. land / bldgs / furniture ) can be set up in Rs. 20 crores today (2009). If someone has land (then reduce 5 crores from the amount). Staff salaries would come to Rs. 15 lakhs per month i.e. 1.5 crores per year (approx i.e.). That is the over-head part. I would suggest to my Kerala brothers :
Rich Keralites must stop coming to Haj and Umrah., and they must donate THAT money. Everything should be done in a very transparent way prohibiting anyone from stealing even 1 rupee.
I think if Keralites forego Haj and Umrah, in 1 year they should be able to amass Rs. 20 crores. Thereby they can have a quality High School (K-12) following the CBSE sylabbus.
Its upto the keralite muslims, leadership and the common man. Schools will not fall from the sky. Keralites will have to build institutions., otherwise their sons would wash cars in Dubai / Saudi, or work as drivers ; and their daughters will work as nurses / domestic help in Dubai /Saudi. Choice is theirs.

Muslims of Kerala are anxious about PFI and its parent organization NDF due to many reasons.Kerala is the only state where PFI has got remarkable presence.Kerala is notable due to abundance of Muslim organizations.In political field there are four strong Muslim organizations.
Muslim League:Its activities are very strong and it has got good following.It has a proud history of more than 50 years.
PDP:In south Kerala , PDP has got remarkable following.They have a lot of non-Muslim members also.Their presence and influence in Kerala politics is commentable.
INL: Muslim party with an average following.
Jamaate islami:Though they are not there in election politics; they are active with political activities.
they also got grass root level influence and fifty years experience.They have announced their entry in election politics.
Many religious organizations are also there like two fractions of sunnis, two fractions of salafis .
A lot of cultural and educational organizations are also there; like MES and MSS.
In this abundance, most of Keralites consider PFI's arrival as a unhealthy competition.PFI's another peculiarity irritates every other Muslim organization; their un-paralleled party spirit.PFI will do anything to project their brandname.They start everything their own;student and girls organizations,colleges,news paper,magazines, audio visual units,publishing houses,and even Masjids.This destroy the collective strength of Muslims and brings unnecessary competition.
The most serious problem of PFI is their misinterpretation of Jihad.In the name of Jihad, NDF takes part in killing games with other organizations like CPM and RSS.NDF is involved in a number of incidents of political and religious murders.In every places where NDF got influence, people expect unpleasent situation any time.Even followers of other Muslim organizations like Muslim League,salafis and sunnis are attacked by NDF many times.
Another problem of NDF is their immature political ambitions.Other organizations who recently entered in politics has got history of many years of social work.TMMK has strong history of grass root level social and political work.Muslim League has the best experience.Jamiat Ulema and Jamat Islami have worked many years in many fields before entering politics.AUDF is formed by experienced organizations like Jamiat Ulema and Jamat Islami.
But PFI has got only short history; that also of violent clashes with other communities.
So, my advice to PFI is :
Stop violent methods.Avoid culture of violence.
Before entering politics;make yourself better through social works.
Correct your bad relations with non-Muslims.
Convert your aggressive party-spirit as spirit for Islam and Muslims.
Instead of creating unhealthy competition among Muslim organizations in already strong fields; try to find out new fields where Muslims are weak.
Be transparent.Avoid secret working style.
Avoid un-Islamic tactics.
By becoming transparent; you can prevent intruding of dangerous elements to the party.

PFI : Two theories in Kerala.
There are two theories about PFI in Kerala.
The first theory is by religious organizations.They argue that PFI people are those people who misunderstood Islam and Jihad just like Taliban and Lashkar-e-toiba.
Another theory is that the founder leaders of PFI are not extremists but they were only exploiting the extremist mentality of some youths for vested interests.By this argument, some people of Kozhikode district of Kerala want to set up an organization and to make it a strong one as early as possible.But the situation in the Muslim community was not that favourable.In Kerala Muslim community, already there is a lot of organizations.The situation was very competative.So the leaders discovered an idea.They found out that there is enough scope for an organization based on violence.The social and political atmosphere in the Muslim community was of insecurity in the post-Babari situation and continuous aggression from the side of RSS.Some of the Muslim youths were looking for an emotional, violent, revenge oriented organization.The leaders exploited the situation and formed an organization with violent tendencies.Most of the youths who came under the banner of PFI former NDF were not with knowledge about Islam.Many were not even practicing.
The scholars may analise the etiology of such an organization with feeling of insecurity, revenge and violence.But the Muslim community already had paid a heavy price.

This is an "oxymoron" -- how can it be a muslim party if it wants to be inclusive of others..
No amount of "parties" and no amount of continuous harping on government neglect is not going t do any thing in uplifting Muslims..
Muslims have to get educated; there should be grass roots ground up movement, party should be free of fundamentalists and uneducated mullahs, women given rights and education, men stop marrying 4, reform madrasa, etc etc
look at how christians and Sikhs have taken advantage of a pluralistic india, everybody should be; Muslims have to get out of the "larger muslim society/"Ulema", and focus on India and participate and profit from its growth.

Gopi how to get educated when you siphon off large fees and use the funds to promote churches. The propblem is that there is organised discrimination against Muslims. See, the Orissa church attackers have backing of even Sarkozy who is so intolerat and met the Sikh PM of India with the words of christian genecide and the case is fnalised within a year while riots after riots are swept under cover.
My dear it has nothing to do with power etc but the willingness of the system to work and when it comes to things Muslims, the criminals hav ignorants like you as certificates. I have experience people like you asking for religious freedom of creating smoke and sound pollution by immersing idols in water bodies and condone it in the name of faith while a bearded policeman is a strict no no while the discrimantion is practise without one muslim having beard. The police commissioner of Bangalore orders shoot at site for a church while a historic mosque is demolished with the criminal becoming the home minister of the country. I can understand you are a converted poor grown in a missionary school where only christianity is taught.You have so many misconceptins about Islam and Muslims prevailing in your mind.I can suggest you to remove all those otherwise you will be in loss.If you want to be a champion about social causes,I can recommend a book " 20 Misconceptions about Islam" by Dr.Zakir Naik.You can also watch lectures of Dr.Zakir Naik in Peace TV,and or in Youtube clippings.I challenge you if you follow these two recommendations,you will start writing just opposite what you write now days.
Dr.Zakir naik is international orator on Islam and comparative religions.He clarifies misconceptions about any religion using the Qur'an, authentic Hadith and other religious Scriptures (Bible,Torah,Vedas,Smiritis,Upanishads,and Gurugranth etc) as a basis, in conjunction with reason, logic and scientific facts.
Now come to economic status of Muslims,Christians and Sikhs in India.
Sikhs: Sikhs are mainly concentrated in a particular state (i.e.Punjab) only and they have power.That is the reason sikhs are well off.
Chriatians: There are two types of Christians in India.One is the original who are there from the British and Portugal period.They are rich from the very beginnig.
The other category is for the converts like you.This group is in small population and thier economy is not better than the economy of the Muslims.Despites,they are getting much help from Christian missionaries funded by west.
Muslims: The rich and educated muslims migrated Pakistan after the partition and they left the poor behind.And in India they are still striving for survival.Politicians are using them as voting stocks and Jan-Sanghis as soft target.After the partition,the economic condition of Muslims was/is not better than the tribals.However the trivals are given every rights like reservartions in colleges and jobs and thier counterparts (muslims) are struggling thier own.
If sometimes some philanthropists from Govt.,journalism,or from any sector come with some ideas for the welfare of muslims there are people like you will come to criticise them.

No, I did not go to a Christian missionary school. Even if I did not go, I am sure they are all very high standard schools and colleges, where even Muslims queue up to get admission.
And you are wrong about "british christians and portugese christians". There is nothing like that. If you mean Anglo-Indians (the mixture between indians and British), they are educatioanlly and financially quite weak. And it is a small number of people.
Christians in Kerala (and elsewhere like MAagalore, Mumbai) are doing extremely well. The richest and most educated peopel in Kerala are Christians. And they are not "Bbritish christians". Neither the Mangaloreans, or Mumbaites.
An for your information, all in India,including your garndparents , except Hindus, are converts from Hindus. Get over that.
Listen, I am all for Muslims getting educated and moving ahead. An India where everybody excels is an India nobody can touch. My comments were regarding "a new inclusive islamic party"; what ISlam needs now is not a party, but an internal revival, hard work, commitment to education, progress etc. I want Muslims do well like other minority religions; and when i point out how it can be done or how to leverage their examples, i always get blowback as to why it wouldnt work or why they r discriminated or why this or why that. Time to get over those and take acre of oneself
