Pushed from Charminar- Samira's death symbolises the exploitation by moneylenders

Hyderabad: The heart wrenching story of Sameera Begum, who died after being pushed down from the Hyderabad’s historic monument Charminar by her tormentor Arshad Ahmad, has brought the cruel exploitation of the poor families by the money lender in to sharp focus.
In a scene out of the Shahrukh Khan’s blockbuster “Baazigar”, a money lender Arshad Ahmad threw Sameera off Charminar after making her sit on the balcony on the first floor of Charminar on Thursday last. The killer, who after his arrest told the police that the motive of the crime was to prevent the girl from revealing her sexual exploitation, had loaned an amount of Rs 14000 to Sameera Begum’s mother two months ago at an exorbitant interest rate of 40% and was recovering the money at the rate of Rs 200 per day.
The trouble started between the family and Arshad ten days ago when the family stopped repayment as their petty business was not doing well. Angered over this the money lender started threatening the family, specially Sameera and her two younger sisters.
Exasperated over this Sameera left home on June 9 promising to arrange the money and repay the amount to Arshad but never returned. The police was now looking in to the possibility that Arshad had confined Sameera to his home and subjected her to sexual exploitation.
After his ghastly act of pushing Sameera to ground, Arshad went to girl’s home in nearby Talabkutta area and told her family to check whether the girl who committed suicide at Charminar was their daughter.
Sameera Begum who was rushed to the Osmania Hospital with serious head injury and multiple fractures, revealed the name of Arshad in her dying declaration.
“I thought after the fall she will die on the spot and the police will treat as a case of suicide”, Arshad told the police.
Arshad said that he decided to do Sameera away because she was pressurizing him to marry after he had physical relationship with her. “Promising to fulfill her wish, I took her to Charminar and pushed her down”, he confessed.
Sameera’s family, headed by a petty trader Mohammed Ysufu is demanding death punishment to the killer of the girl. “We will not rest till he meets the same fate”, said a wailing Khursheed Begum. While the well planned murder of the girl has sent the waves of shock across the city, the factors leading to the crime have also left the people perturbed.
“This highlights the way the poor families of old city are being subjected to financial and sexual exploitation by the money lenders”, said Prof. Rehana Sultana, a social activists who work in the old city.
The Muslim dominated old city, where majority of the people are poor petty traders, has turned in to an open field for the money lenders who lend loans on the daily basis at exorbitant rate of interest ranging from 30 to 50 per cent to the people who don’t have access to the banks.
“It is not very uncommon that the families unable to repay the loan are subjected to violence and exploitation by the organized gangs run by the money lenders. The old city is ruled by such Pehlwans and Bhais who are in nexus with the police”, said another social activist.
Meanwhile the Congress legislator and film star Jayasudha expressing shock over the incident said that the government will do every thing possible to help Sameera’s famiy. “I will try to get some compensation to the family”, she said.
She rued that the film and media were showing the youth a wrong path leading to such ghastly crimes against women. “Don’t show such rogue elements as hero and lovers”, she told the media and film industry.

poor status of muslims

majority of public whom we normally addres as muslims and often co-proclaim to be muslim and relate their poor status with islam.But actually these guys are not muslims rather believer in islam.Vast majority among these guys are involved in all types of evil acts viz.flash trade ,landing money on intrest,consuming and trading alcohlic drinks,cockin,brown sugar etc.so how they say that they are muslims.probably every dont as mentioned in quran is in the daily life of this community, as other people are not aware of teachings of islam they think islam is un acceptable for mankind.
For example Mr X claims to be citizen of peace land but do not follow the ethics of that society how he could enjoy the fruits of peaceland definitely the administration will dclare him un wanted person because of his disrespect to the law of the land and exclude him from the benifits enjoyed by the civic society
On the same ground a person or agroup of person or society of such person who proclaims to be muslim but donot follow the teachings in their day to day life will definitely fall to the pit of disrespect humilation and misery.
In a democratic set up majority vote decides the furure of nation and minority has no way but to be treated like majority. On the same line these people are being treated by God since our God do not discriminates human being as thou has rewrded us with the power of deciding between good or bad.If we prefer saitans way of life over the quranic way of life ultimate is the failure.
Why muslims r kicked from everywhere.
I must appreciate ur question.Even majority of muslims do not know the answer.But according to me it is because muslims misunderstood islam.Majority of muslims think that like hinduism,buddhism,christianity etc. islam is also a ritualistic religion.They perform prayers,pay zakat,perform hajj,say there is one GOD and Prophet Muhammad(Pbuh) is his last messenger,fast during ramadhan and thats it.But they do not understand that Islam is a deen i.e. complete politico socio economic system.Now there r two major systems in this world.Islam and capitalism and it is but natural that no two systems can co exist together,so they will collide which is exactly happening now since there r very few people who think islam is a system and since Quran also direct muslims to Impose(not choose) Islamic system on this earth which is for the betterment of humanity.but on the contrary muslims r living in a system and since they do not think abt islam as a system so they dont impose this system.Capitalists know that few Mujahideens like usama bin laden,mullah omar if they will be successful in establishing islamic system then the whole world will see the reality of this system and will demand for this system.Since pak was born on the ideology of islam but unfortunately there rulers b it dictators or democrats they failed miserably to impose islam as a system hence they become the puppets of west.Since capitalism is fighting with islam so they lied abt talibans in afghanistan and it is but natural that india being an ally of this system and these states like israel and usa got an opportunity and supplying arms and money to TTP and aiding ppl like altaf hussain and bla of baluchistan so that pakistan will disintegrate and indian dream of akhand bharat will be materialised as well as these forces being anti islamic will also get rid of talibans and pakistan by pitting brothers against brothers.
No justice for Muslims
Banks DO NOT lend money to Muslims. People do not rent Homes to Muslim tenants ("Tolet only for Vegetarians" is the sign-board). One of my friends had property and he wanted to give same on rent. He wrote a sign-board on the lines of "Only for vegetarians"., something like this : "Only For Beef-Eaters". The condition of Muslims in India (and Hyderabad) is extremely, extremely bad. The Sachar Committee report has documented that the condition on the ground TODAY 15 June 2009 is : That Muslims are worst than the worst., SCs and STs and Harijans and Girijans. The Indian Muslims are at the lowest bar. (The RSS will contradict.. but Shahrukh Khan, Aamir, Salman, Sania Mirza and Azim Premji ! I reply to the RSS : They are names and nouns. Here i am talking percentages...). There is no solution in sight. No solution at all.
When one is hungry, even pork becokes halaal. It is hunger that is the enemy number 1. Muslims are either burnt (immediate death by fire), or given wrong medicines (as in Surat.. i.e.a cold death)., and further on a larger scale., they are murdered thru unemployment., no admission in schools, discrimination 24x7., in the bus., in the cinema, in the hotel, in the govt office, in the police station, in the municipal office., in the post office., in the hospital., etc. etc. etc. The Indian Govt. has decided to kill muslims enmasse (silent death) thru mal-nutrition and denial of opportunities.
The Congress Govt will not implement even 1 percent from the Sachar Report for fear of RSS backlash (RIOTS and further Genocide thru-out India). RSS has penetrated bureaucracy / judiciary / army and the police machinery; just as Taliban elements have infiltrated same in the neighbouring country.
Hindutva today is nothing but raping muslim girls, killing their men and babies., occupying their homes (after killing their inmates); stealing their jewelry, illegally occupying their homes (post 1947 this is the fashion); removing islamic symbols from their homes and installing ganeshas in their place (on the walls). Rape and murder of muslims is Hindutva. As simple as that. And a major political party is presenting it before the population as an "option", a way of life ! that too !! .

Will you guys help me understand why there is no SACHAR committee report for other minorities like christians and Sikhs? Is it because the Rabid Infidels have chosen Muslims for special treatment? Or is it because their condition is good and in some cases better than the Rabid fundamentalist Hindus? Any guesses?
SACHAR committee : Have you really gone thru that report in detail? If you do analyze the data there, you will realize there is enough evidence to demonstrate that discrimination is more in the minds of Muslims. Of course Sachar committee does not reach that conclusion because of obvious reasons.
Just for example, when they collected data on Civil services and CAT (for admission to IIMs), they found that success rate for Muslims was better than Others in one case and same in the other case! Success rate means percentage of candidates finally selected vis-a-vis those called for interview after written test. If you want to believe that Discrimination happens at the level of written tests, then rest assured, nothing in this world can help you.
So why is Muslim representation low in most of these areas despite better or similar success rates? The reason is too FEW of them actually apply for the tests? Why is that so? Lack of education because of discrimination by Hindus? The report also demonstrates that even Poor SC and ST families pay more attention to education that average Muslims. Why amongst various reasons, one was absence of subjects dealing with Muslim religion? Wow all Rabid Hindus memorize their Gitas in secular schools ? Right?
Similarly when you see the results of directed credit programs for "minorities" alone christians and sikhs outperform Muslims by huge margins. Why is that so? Must be an "Especiallised Discrimination Packages for Muslims" designed by Rabid HIndus?
Let me apologize in advance as this might offend you, but believe me that is not me intention.
If you talk about Private sector, let us be very clear their reqmt is efficiency and commitment. If a company has to chose between two candidates, most things being equal, he would chose those who wear normal trousers over those who wear it above ankles or those who apply large tikas of chandan on their foreheads. They will not chose those who need multiple breaks everyday for their prayers, when the option of somebody not requiring those breaks is available to them. Our liking or disliking won't change their preferences.
When you claim that credit flow to Muslims from Banking system is very low, have you checked what percentage of Muslims are willing to deal with interest based loans? If you want to deal with Islamic Banks only, then help yourself and create your own Banks or wait till the steps promised by Mr Khursheed for Islamic Banking bears fruit. Choice as always is yours alone. I have seen so many Muslims asking their ulemas whether it is okay for them to education loans for higher studies, only to be told it is HARAM. The choice once again is theirs alone.
Discrimination does exist, but it is not exclusively reserved for Muslims. Delhi and Mumbai people do discriminate against Biharis and Up wallahs. there is discrimination between those who speak fluent english and those who don't. IIM. Guys discriminate against Non IIM MBAs and IIM A guys discriminate against other IIMs. Vegetarian Gujaratis and Marwadis discriminate against Non vegetarian Hindus. But those who really want to make it, they work harder instead of cribbing about the system.
And the system as it is will always place higher value on those who adapt to it rather than those who crib about it.
And about the silly point you make about "TO Let for Vegetarians only" what makes you think it is for Muslims only? My younger brother had a tough finding a decent accommodation in Hyderabad because he is not a vegetarian and yes he is Hindu. My wife worked for company owned by Gujaratis where non- vegetarian food was not allowed. So what did she do? Left the job ? Or opting to eat non-veg at Home only.
Your world view is very simple and that is the whole world is conspiring against Muslims and that is responsible for your current condition. But what you believe is simply your own CHOICE and when that choice produces unhappy outcomes then don't blame the outcomes, look at the choices you have made.

There are a million positives about muslim situation in India vs a few negatives.
So, relax. Think positive. Work hard to help muslims get better. Even one orphan or a needy at a time. For that matter, not just muslims .. all, irrespective of religion, caste.

Rs. 14000 is too less for a life, especially these days where an IT kitten straight out of college gets 50000 per month. One thing the community can do is to set up an interest-free micro-credit fund, collected as charity, and lend it to poor people against collateral for a nominal charge.

I have some confusion while reading the story. Is it happened in a cinema or is it in reality?
Hyderbad Muslims should come against the moneylending for 'riba' and with the help and support of the local Police they should eliminate the (Muslim) money lenders from the field.
Muslims are doing nasty works, while they have clear instruction on all the matters - financial, social etc. They will demand for Personal Law according to Islam and they will act against it.
Come forward and wage a war against money lenders and sex sellers and middle men.
