London : Hosts England knocked defending champions India out of the World Twenty20, inflicting a three-run defeat in a crucial Group E Super Eights match at Lord's here Sunday.

Brief scores: England 153/7 in 20 overs (Kevin Pietersen 46, Ravi Bopara 37; Harbhajan Singh 3-30, Ravindra Jadeja 2-26). India 150/5 in 20 overs (Yusuf Pathan 33 not out, Mahendra Singh Dhoni 30 not out; Graeme Swann 2-28, Ryan Sidebottom 2-31).
