Don't alienate Muslims and lose votes: Naqvi appeals to BJP

By IANS

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Sunday appealed to party leaders to ensure that Muslims don't get alienated and become the cause of the party's electoral defeat in future again.

Naqvi, speaking on the second day of the party's two-day national executive meeting here, said: "We know that we don't get the votes of Muslims, but we must ensure that Muslims don't become the cause of our defeat."

According to party sources, Naqvi, also BJP vice president, was referring to the party's failure to win over the Muslim votes and the polarisation among the community against the party if it adopts hardline Hindutva.

Following the party's Lok Sabha debacle, Naqvi and another Muslim party leader Shahnawaz Hussain had said the electoral loss was due to the party practising the "Pilibhit brand of Hindutva", a reference to the alleged hate speeches by BJP's Varun Gandhi.

Varun Gandhi, who won from the Pilibhit seat in Uttar Pradesh, courted controversy during the run-up to the elections in March by making alleged anti-Muslim speeches. He was censured by the Election Commission and also arrested by the state government. He is out on bail.

Naqvi's comments come on the second day of the party conclave.

Naqvi and Shahnawaz are actors playing a part

Poor Naqvi is playing the role of a "Muslim" in the Drama : "Nafrat Ke Beej" scripted by RSS. He is doing this role, to feed himself., keep his body alive. If Naqvi is hungry, who will give him a roti, a cup of tea ? Tell me. So Naqvi is playing a role (as an artiste). Let him play ! Naqvi and Shahnawaz are getting their Roti, playing the role of a "Muslim"... but they both get paid like "Extras" and not like Super-stars ! Both are extras / junior artistes... and not stars.

The BJP spokesperson Mukhtar

The BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi's appeal to party leaders to ensure that Muslims don't get alienated and become the cause of the party's electoral defeat in future again is lacklustre and will be considered as invalid by the Muslim community.

The Muslim, Christian and even Hindu communities would have appreciated it if it had come from the party leaders like Mr. L.K. Advani.

No party can be successful in our country if it wants to divide the people, create tension and fish in troubled waters.

India is the largest democratic and secular country in the world and its people know how to decide things. There is no future for any communal party in the political arena of our country.

Naqvi - Talking for Muslims or for himself

MA Naqvi is the so-called Muslim face of BJP, after the infamous Sikandar Badbakht (Bakhth). We all know that MA Naqvi is less of Muslim and more a follower of Hindu faith. He has no connections or contacts with Muslim community and has not done a single notable work of importance for the Muslims. I would not brand him a non-Muslim, as only Allah knows his Imaan.

However, its clear that his appeal to his fellow BJPites is only on his self interest. If BJP becomes a declared Hindutva Party, he has to either change his name and declare himself a Hindu and work for them, or get marginalized. After all what is the need or place for a Muslim face in an openly Hindutva declared, saffron party.

Mr Naqvi and Mr Hussain, we wont be fooled by your self-centric appeal. Its not for us but for your own survival. We dont want BJP in either form; Saffron or orange.
