Maulana Badruddin Ajmal visits Behrampada
By Abdul Hameed, TwoCircles.net,
Mumbai: The national president of United Democratic Front (UDF) and Member of Parliament Maulana Badruddin Ajmal today visited Behrampada in suburban Mumbai along with Maharashtra state leaders of his party.
Maulana Ajmal termed the accident a ‘tragic’ one and said that his party is always ready to extend helping hands to the affected families. ‘From local level to the parliament I will try to raise voice for them. We will contribute our efforts for their rehabilitation’ said MP Badruddin.
He told that some of the locals allege that the blaze was a part of ‘conspiracy’. Maulana demanded a fair probe in the case ‘if the matter was so’ and tough punishment for the culprits.
The locals also complained to Maulana that the government is due to demolish the structures affected by the blaze while they ask that before destruction the ownership slip should be given to them. Badruddin said that if destruction is necessary the process should take place in the presence of the responsible officers.
The slum area of Bandra (E) Behrampada witnessed a blazing fire on June 17 which burnt hundreds of shanties and claimed nearly a dozen lives according to the locals. Thousands of affected people, mostly Muslims, are now living under the nearby Bandra Sky Walk and in open ground under tents. Many organizations and political parties including UDF are busy distributing relief materials and providing free medical assistance.

Protection Needed From The Government
Giving help is not important. The most important issue over here is that this people lost their property and many lost their lives. The government should try to build a building for this people as the shanties here are very dangerous with the narrow lane making many people to shed their lives.
I just beg to the government to help us by breaking this slum area and trying to help us by building a new building immediately.
I am one of the resident of this area luckily the fire was too far from my house, but since that day i am not able to sleep at night as i feel damm scared.
Please save our lives. Please help us.

Involve UNHCR in Behrampada Rehabilitation Project
Involve the UNHCR to survey the property, take photographs etc. i.e. in the task of issuing "occupancy slips. The Maharashtra Govt. & Mumbai Municipality is not qualified to undertake this task. They are neither qualified., nor are their intent(s) honorable. Please involve UNHCR in this operation. No offence meant., we have no trust in Mumbai Municipal Corp., and Maha Govt. Both are corrupt to the neck., and inefficient to the bone.
UNHCR??? are Muslims of Behrampada refugees???
UNHCR??? are Muslims of Behrampada refugees??? Then why don't we call UN for conducting election in are where Muslims are in majority???
Ethnic cleansing + eviction of muslims.
The Govt. will give a slip to the poor muslims of Behrampada. Their homes were deliberately set on fire by Bajrang Dal activists. The plan is to evict all the Muslims out., clear the land., and build high-rise buildings and a 5-star hotel. Once the muslims are uprooted., high-rises will come up in 18 months. The muslims can retain the "ownership slip" and place same in a "taweez" (talisman) and wear around their necks. Basically its ethnic cleansing + uprooting the muslims. As simple as that. The Govt. will clear the land. They want the land of Behrampada., not the residents of Behrampada. The Bajrang Dal activists did the job of destroying the homes., the Police and Municipality will now enter the scene., to clear the debris., then the politican+builder come and play their part. As simple as that. The Govt. of Maharashtra will not give even one muslim the job of a "peon" in the Govt. service. Even that is Muslim "Appeasement". Just kill Muslims, and occupy their property.. The empowered feeling to commit this atrocity is Hindutva. Jai Ho.
