Liberhan: Punish the guilty, say Kerala leaders

By TwoCircles.net Staff Correspondent,

Kochi: Several leaders and organisations in Kerala demanded that those found guilty by the Liberhan Commission in the demolition of the Babri Masjid should be brought before law and punished. The opinions came in the context of the tabling of the Commission report in the Parliament after it was leaked out to the media.

Even though late, the decision of the UPA government to table the Liberhan Commission Report in the Parliament in the wake of the leaking of the report is welcome, said Siraj Ibrahim Sait, national general secretary of the Indian National League. The government, which claims to have a secular outlook, should take measures to punish the individuals and organisations responsible for the demolition of the Babri Masjid according to this report. He added that the people would lose faith if action is not taken on the report of commissions that bring out the truth.

All the culprits found by the Liberhan Commission in the demolition of the Babri Masjid should be arrested and punishment measures should be taken against them, said P Mujeeb Rahman, president of the Solidarity Youth Movement. The Liberhan Report clearly states that the demolition of the Babri Masjid was conspired by the RSS and the BJP to deliberately create divisions between the two major religious communities in the country. The government should dare to remove those including Advani from lawful responsibilities and to try them. He added that the actions taken against the Babri-demolition would be the re-establishment of rule of law and restoration of secularism.

The Congress should keep its word that the Babri Masjid would be re-constructed in the right place, said Abdunnasir Ma’dani, chairman of the People’s Democratic Party. He informed that the PDP would hold dharna in all district headquarters in the evening of December 5 and December 6 would be offered as day of protest.

The government should take action against those guilty as per the Liberhan Commission Report, said Pinarayi Vijayan, state general secretary of the CPI (M). The Congress has got political aims at delaying the report.
The report contains facts and advices regarding the demolition of the masjid. What is actually needed is solution. The Congress government is afraid of taking strict action against the culprits. He added that not only those mentioned in the Commission report are culprits but also the then central government and the Congress leadership.
