Zakat Foundation of America distributes relief package among victims in Karnataka

Patna: Seeing a disaster situation in flood-hit districts of South India, Zakat Foundation, an America based charity organization, has come forward to help survivors of the flood victims in north Karnataka. The foundation has distributed relief package of 2.25 lakhs.

The foundation has reached to more than 250 families in villages of Navalgund taluk in Dharwad District and Ron taluk in Gadag District in north Karnataka with the help of a Hubli Based NGO Affus Woman Welfare Association (AWWA).

A food package of 21 kg was given to every family. Each package contained 15kg rice, 2kg dal, 2kg wheat, 1kg suger, oil one liter.

Mrs. Farida khan, president of AWWA said “It is our social responsibility to help victims of the flood which created havoc across the state.”

Talking to TwoCircles.net over the phone Mrs. Farida khan said: “Situation in Karnatka is worse than in Andhra Pradesh. More than 4000 villages have been affected by flood.”

“Government is trying to rescue the people and construct the homes and schools. Many organizations are also busy in helping the people” she added.
