Relating terrorism with Islam 'downright prejudice': Ansari

New Delhi : No religion condones terrorism and those attempting to attribute its origin to Islam display "downright prejudice", Vice President Hamid Ansari said Tuesday.
Terrorism is not of "recent origin but globalization and technology have now made it trans-national in reach and devastating in its impact", he said.
Ansari was speaking after inaugurating the second international conference on terrorism organised by the Jama Masjid United Forum here, attended by leaders and Islamic scholars from many countries like Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Morocco and Sudan.
"It (terrorism) cannot be, and has not been, condoned in any belief system and yet at different points of time, adherents of various religions have been labelled as terrorists. Those trying to locate the origin of terrorism in Islam or in any other faith display ignorance of history or downright prejudice," said Ansari, who is also chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
Ansari said it was "important to remember that those advocating extremist, fundamentalist and terrorist causes constitute a tiny minority".
"They neither have the religious nor political mandate for their abhorrent actions and ideologies."
He said a majority of humanity is too poor and struggling to survive. "Their vulnerability lies in their poverty; it is this that provides an opportunity to peddlers of extremism. This opportunity gets fructified only because those tasked with political governance and religious and moral leadership have failed."
He said terrorist acts "emanate from a radicalization of the mind propelled by perceived grievances and sought to be anchored on ideology or faith.
"The steps taken so far by individual states and the international community are essentially preventive or punitive, aimed at dismantling the infrastructure of terrorism, and do not deal sufficiently with the mental orientation that leads to terrorist acts.
"Combating terrorism thus becomes a sociological, psychological and political effort as much as a security one; the corrective effort on each of these needs to begin simultaneously rather than sequentially," he said.
He said the initiatives like the conference by the Jama Masjid United Forum would contribute to better understanding of the phenomenon of terrorism and means of tackling it, both nationally and internationally.

violence is wrong in any shape.the great humanitarian mahatma gandhi launched his non violent movementfor freedom of india.As member peta org,i will draw everyones attention to the plight of the deaf and dumbespecially before eidul adha.if you hurt a man he can atleast protest,these animals cannot do even that.By foregoing the socalled sacrifice we will be more forcefully convincing the world at large that islam is not related to terror,which in truth it is not.

How many times did peta talked about a religion and it being terrorist for slaughtering animals? Is it for Eidul Azha or do you include thanksgiving etc? Do you know that even the pacifict Parsees, who according to many 'rights' people fled persecution in Persia do prepare meat and flesh on their festival. By this logic, you could have painted all the religions with 'terror' brush instead of singlinng out Islam. If you claim that a sacrifice and that too by Muslims qualifies for being terror and others do it to feed themselves, let me remind that we throw no part of the slaughtered animals though many religions do not eat the flesh of the sacrificial animals.
You seem to have been educated in any of the many 'humane' institutes which promote rights of even animals but ignore or even shut up the people who call for slaughtered human beings. In your own Gandi's state, where his own 'remrejya' was being experimented, more than 2000 innocent human beings were massacred. Nobody rapes a sacrificial animal, neither one is skinned before death, but these acts were performed in Gandi's land invoking 'remrejya'. May I ask you as to what you are doing about it?
Try asking peta what is their stand on human killing and animal rights? In my view, they stand for nothing more than killing even more plants to feed and it is just fashion from the West, which preaches and by use of force at that, while practising contrary of the preachings. To hell with the separation of humanity from human being and pinning it to animals.
If you are so bothered, let us know who exactly you are and face the Questions?

Islamic method of Slaughtering animals is better.
Shaddad Bin Aus has quoted this tradition of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.) "God calls for mercy in everything, so be merciful when you kill and when you slaughter, sharpen your blade to relieve its pain".
Many allegations have been made that Islamic slaughter is not humane to animals. However, Professor Schultz and his colleague Dr. Hazim of the Hanover University, Germany, proved through an experiment, using an electroencephalograph (EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) that Islamic slaughter is THE humane method of slaughter and captive bolt stunning, practiced by the Western method, causes severe pain to the animal.
The results surprised many.
Experimental Details:
1. Several electrodes were surgically implanted at various points of the skull of all animals, touching the surface of the brain.
2. The animals were allowed to recover for several weeks.
3. Some animals were slaughtered by making a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck cutting the jugular veins and carotid Arteries of both sides; as also the trachea and esophagus Halal Method.
4. Some animals were stunned using a captive bolt pistol humane slaughter by the western method.
5. During the experiment, EEG and ECG were recorded on all animals to record the condition of the brain and heart during the course of slaughter and stunning.
Results and Discussion:
I - Halal Method
1. The first three seconds from the time of Islamic slaughter as recorded on the EEG did not show any change from the graph before slaughter, thus indicating that the animal did not feel any pain during or immediately after the incision.
2. For the following 3 seconds, the EEG recorded a condition of deep sleep - unconsciousness. This is due to a large quantity of blood gushing out from the body.
3. After the above mentioned 6 seconds, the EEG recorded zero level, showing no feeling of pain at all.
4. As the brain message (EEG) dropped to zero level, the heart was still pounding and the body convulsing vigorously (a reflex action of the spinal cord) driving maximum blood from the body: resulting in hygienic meat for the consumer.
II - Western method by C.B.P. Stunning
1. The animals were apparently unconscious soon after stunning.
2. EEG showed severe pain immediately after stunning.
3. The hearts of the animal stunned by C.B.P. stopped beating earlier as compared to those of the animals slaughtered according to the Halal me-thod resulting in the retention of more blood in the meat. This in turn is unhygienic for the consumer.

By the same logic number of Hindus are involved in crime both in India and abroad, will that make Hindus as crimnal community?
Few Chirstians are involved in child emolesting, child sex even few priest were involved in abuse. Will that make whole christian community as child abuser?

Terrorism
Ansari is right; it is only aminority who is committing the violent acts of terrorism.
Unfortunately, all the international terrorism-- bombing ion India, Spain, UK, England, US , pkaisyan - are conducted by Muslism; and unless these stop, muslism will continue to be labelled/identified with terrorism.
If it was just in one country, say Saudi Arabia, it would have been aclled Arb terrorism.
LEt su not fight the labels; the fact is that there are jehadis running around creating havoc. Moderates should come strongly against this, like Ansari is saying. Unfortunately Muslim moderates have not come out strongly against the wordlwide and well as Indian terrorism.
