Two held for killing techie in Greater Noida

Greater Noida : Two men were arrested Saturday for allegedly murdering a software engineer in Greater Noida township of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

Deepak Singh and Rajesh Bhati were arrested for stabbing Abhinav Ratnawat, originally from Jaipur in Rajasthan, in Greater Noida July 27 after a robbery, police said.

“The two youths were on a bike and murdered Abhinav when he tried to resist their robbery attempt. The accused killed the victim near Parasvnath Apartments in Swarnanagri Colony after robbing him of his belongings,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashok Kumar Singh said.

Singh hails from Loni area in Ghaziabad and was staying in Greater Noida. He is married and was studying in Class 11. Bhati is also married and was a school drop out, police said.

Police said they have recovered the victim’s shoes, mobile phone and other belongings from the accused. A bike and two knives were also recovered, the official said.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have solved the murder of a local journalist Sunita who was shot by three assailants on her way to office Aug 15.

Three people – Sunil Kumar, Sudhir and Rajesh Nagar – were arrested Saturday for the murder.

“Sunita was Sunil’s sister. At times, she returned late night due to her profession. Sunil suspected her of having an affair due to which he plotted her murder,” the officer said.
