PFI holds dharna to demand justice for Babri Masjid

By TCN News,

New Delhi: To mark the 18th anniversary of Babri Masjid’s demolition, Popular Front of India (PFI) organized a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on 6th December 2010 and demanded reconstruction of Babri Masjid on its actual site and also punishment to the culprits exposed in the Liberhan Commission’s report.

The demonstration was attended by representatives of different political and social organizations and hundreds of common people coming from across the country. They unanimously expressed displeasure at the Allahabad High Court verdict over Ayodhya dispute and concluded that it failed to deliver justice to the aggrieved party.

Addressing the demonstration, K.M. Shareef, PFI general secretary, said the day when Babri Masjid was demolished there was no government at all, at least in Ayodhya, and the rule of law hardly existed there.

“The whole country is waiting for the correction of the faith-laden judgment of the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court by the Supreme Court” he added.

In his address, Vice-President of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) Advocate Sajid Siddiquee lamented on the rise of political anarchy in the country and quoted former President of India Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma that ‘demolition of Babri Masjid was nothing but a sheer vandalism’.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anwarul Islam of Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat briefed about the history of Babri Masjid and derived that Ram temple movement was nothing but an attempt to assault the harmony among various communities.

While Tasleem Rehamani, President of Muslim Political Council, said that the anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid saddens a large number of Muslims and the community succeeded in achieving nothing but a sordid legacy of Babri Masjid.

He was of the opinion that a Brahminical and secular orders are operating in the country parallel to each other for sustaining a hegemonic rule in the country and the demolition of Babri mosque was an instrument in this regard.

Abdul Wahab Khilji, president of Muslim Islahi Tahrik, reminded that Babri Mosque controversy was created to weaken the secular structure of the country and appealed that Muslims should have faith on Islam and themselves and work according to the tenets of Islam in the wake of testing time.

The demonstration was also addressed by several other prominent personalities of the community.

On the occasion it was announced that PFI would be conducting a nation-wide campaign from 6th December 2010 to 30th January 2011 seeking justice for Babri Masjid and to create awareness against the rising phenomenon of terrorism.
