Brijpal, 25, was arrested Thursday evening from the Nauchandi area of Meerut city, around 450 km from here, in a joint operation of the district police and the Special Operation Group (SOG).

“The man was arrested while he was on his way to give the consignment of fake notes to his clients in Delhi,” police inspector S.V.Singh told reporters Friday in Meerut.

“We are yet to ascertain from where the man got the fake notes. With the high-quality paper and ink used in the notes’ manufacturing, we cannot rule out the possibility of his involvement with an international racket engaged in the illegal trade,” he added.

According to police, Brijpal, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had supplied fake notes in Bihar, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and several other states over the last four years.
