Why no compensation for damaged mosques? Gujarat asked

By IANS,

Gandhinagar : The Gujarat High Court Monday sought an explanation from the state government on its changed stand over paying compensation for mosques destroyed or demolished during the 2002 communal riots.

A division bench of Chief Justice S.J. Mukhopadhyay and Justice Anant Dave sought the state government response by March 2 on a public interest lawsuit of the Islamic Relief Committee Gujarat, which had sought compensation from the government for repair and reconstruction of damaged religious structures.

The state government had accepted the 2003 report of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) which had recommended payment of the compensation, but later changed its stand and said that it will not be paying compensation following a policy decision on the matter.

As many as 535 religious structures were destroyed or damaged during the riots in Gujarat, and the Islamic Relief Committee approached the higher judiciary for relief.

Why we need compensation

Why we need compensation from the Govt? We as ummah can re-structure the things. Pls do not beg. Beggars are not chooser, and is there a guarantee that the Govt. will pay the amount after HC/SC declaration. Who will take the responsibility? They are making fun of us. Why not to establish our own qaza'at for solving our issues through islamic laws?

We need compensation

Dear Brother Ibnehidayat, i understand your concern that the amount should'nt be boorowed but why should'nt it be borrowed. Is this not our land? are we not paying tax?

Yes, very much this is our country and we are paying tax so is this tax only for temples and hindu priests? NO, we are as much as Indians as any other community is.

Don't ever think we are less indians as compared to the so said patriots. And remember this land is ours as much as it is to other communities. Infact we should get more.
