London : Prime Minister Gordon Brown will face four hours of questioning of the Iraq war next week, the government appointed inquiry announced Monday.
Brown’s appearance on March 5 will be followed by International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander giving evidence on the same day.
It was also announced that Foreign Secretary David Miliband will be questioned on March 8 before the inquiry adjourns until after the UK’s elections, when witnesses including former prime minister Tony Blair are expected to be recalled to give further evidence.
Former International Development Secretary Clare Short has already told the inquiry that Brown was “very unhappy and marginalised” about the war by Blair, who wanted to replace him.
“Tony Blair is obsessed with his legacy and he thinks he can have a quick war and then a reshuffle,” Short quoted Brown telling her before the 2003 invasion.
