AMU Kerala land: second phase under survey

Malappuram: After the handing over the 123 acres of the First phase of land for the Aligarh Muslim University Open centre, the Kerala Government is moving forward with rapid pace. The 300 acres of land in the second phase is also under survey.

The 300 acres of land at Chelamala is surveyed by taking two Total Station machines on rent from a private Company. The Kerala Land Information Mission (KLIM), of the State Government, is exactly to give the machines. But, as the authorities of the AMU rejected KLIM to do the survey, the government also neglected to give the machines required for the survey. And it is because of this that they had to take the machines on rent.

The government Kerala has recommended the authorities to conduct a KLIM survey of the total land required for the University, but this survey, was only applied in the survey of the first phase of the land. And now they are conducting a Land Acquisition Survey with the help of 9 surveyors from the existing Land Acquisition units.

The authorities claim that even though the Government has got around 135 Total Station Centres, none of them are provided for this survey. This problem creates for much exploitation of finance and time. The Company also says that two extra Total Station Centres were also given for the Kerala Land Mission for the Aligarh Muslim University Open Centre. But, none of this is at use now.

Another problem arising at the time of the survey is that, there is no provisions for taking sketch of high space area in the government office, and for this, they will have to seek the help of any other revenue offices in the State. In the government offices, facilities are made only for taking klim surveys.

The Government of Kerala has promised to the Central Authorities that the complete land required for the purpose will be handed over to the University before May 31st of this year. It is the Kerala Land Mission, which conducted the survey of the first 123 acres of land. But here it is done by the authorities with the help of a private company, considering the promise of the government to the Central Authorities.
