Students of madarsa Darul Uloom Farangi Mahal in Aishbagh eidgah celebrated the verdict with joy. The students raised patriotic slogans and even distributed sweets among themselves. The teachers at the madarsas too joined them in their celebrations. Principal, Darul Uloom Firangi Mahal and Naib Imam AIshbagh Eidgah Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali hailed the verdict as a consolation for the martyrs of the terror attack. “Terror has no religion and Kasab deserved the harshest treatment. Death verdict to him is a message for the enemies of our country and a stamp on the independence of our judiciary,” he said. Firangi Mahli also stated that the hanging of Kasab will set precedent for other enemies of the country besides affirming the faith of denizens in the judiciary.

Secretary, All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB), Maulana Zaheer Abbas Rizvi while welcoming the death verdict demanded early hanging of Kasab. “He has waged a battle against our country. We cannot take it lying down. He should be sent to the gallows at the earliest,” said Rizvi. He also hoped that government will act tough on the elements who are abetting terrorist activities in the country. Another prominent Shia cleric and Imam-e-Juma Maulana Kalbe Jawwad remarked: “Terrorism has no religion and Islam denounces all forms of atrocities, opression, harassment and terrorism in all forms. Those behind terrorist activities should be given the harshest punishment.”

Another city based cleric, secretary, Islamic Centre of India (ICI) Naeemur Rehman Siddiqui too welcomed the verdict stating that anyone responsible for terrorism activities in our country should be hanged immediately. “We cannot take the actions of our enemies lying down. They will be paid back in same coin. Linking terrorism with religion is unjustified as Islam does not believe in terrorism,” said Siddiqui.

Similar sentiments were echoed by other clerics of Lucknow including Naib Imam, Tile Wali Masjid Maulana Abdul Mannan Waizi, Spokesperson, AISPLB, Maulana Yasoob Abbas, Member, All India Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Zafaryab Jilani and several others.
