Gadkari’s Chandigarh rally being sabotaged: BJP

By IANS,

Chandigarh: With just three days to go for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari’s first rally here, the party’s local unit Sunday accused the Chandigarh administration of attempting to sabotage the event.

At a meeting of BJP leaders held here to prepare for the May 12 rally, BJP Chandigarh unit president Sanjay Tandon said that the administration forced a change in the rally’s venue Friday.

“The Chandigarh administration is trying to sabotage our programme and has changed the venue despite our taking a permission in advance. But this act of the administration cannot lower the morale of party activists,” Tandon said.

The administration had earlier allowed the BJP rally to be held at the Ramlila ground in Sector 27 and even given the permission for it.

The permission was withdrawn without assigning any reason and the BJP was told Friday to organise the event at the Sector 25 rally ground.

Tandon added: “BJP workers and leaders are now working with more enthusiasm. The party activists have taken it as a challenge.”
