In a circular sent by the general administration department to divisional commissioners, district collectors and chief executive officers of the district panchayats, the government has said no official should attend public functions as chief or special guest or preside over such functions.

The circular said the government had taken serious note of reports that field officers were involved in launching or laying foundation stones for government schemes and projects and attending such functions as chief guests with a view to gain personal publicity.

The government has also barred officials from getting felicitated at public functions. The circular warned of strict action if the officials violated the instructions.
