Dismiss Maharashtra government: Uddhav Thackeray

By IANS,

Mumbai: Citing lapses in allotment of flats in a Mumbai highrise and various other corruption issues, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray Saturday said it would be apt to dismiss the Congress government in Maharashtra.

Speaking to reporters following Chief Minister Ashok Chavan’s offer to tender his resignation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi earlier in the day, Thackeray said the government has been very casual in dealing with state affairs.

“Be it the bullet-proof jacket scam post-26/11 or the conversation between Congress leader Manikrao Thakre and former minister Satish Chaturvedi over collection of funds for Sonia Gandhi’s rally at Sevagram recently, the Congress government has been irresponsible and casual,” Thackeray alleged.

He also emphasised that all those involved in allotment of Adarsh Housing Society flats, originally meant for families of soldiers killed in the 1999 Kargil conflict with Pakistan, and other scams should be probed.

“It is time now that this kind of irresponsible governance is not tolerated. The scam is a clear example of bad governance,” Thackeray said.
