Kerala to donate Rs.5 crore for Pakistan flood victims

Thiruvananthapuram : The Kerala government Monday decided to donate Rs.five crore for the victims of floods in Pakistan.

Addressing reporters after a cabinet meeting here, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said thousands of people were suffering there and so they decided to help them.

Around 1,700 people lost their lives in the devastating floods in 79 of the 124 districts in the country. The floods have caused massive damage to standing crops, covering an area of 1.3 million acres, besides destroying infrastructure, bridges, roads, schools, health centres and buildings, besides displacing millions of people.
