Kottayam : Following a directive from the Election Commission, the venue of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s public meeting at a school in Kerala’s Kottayam district has been changed, an official said Wednesday.
The poll campaign meeting scheduled to be held at M.T.Seminary School ground Saturday has been shifted to a nearby stadium.
“This decision has come from the (Election Commission’s) Delhi office because the permission for PM’s election meeting has to be cleared there. The rules are clear: no premises of educational institutions can be used for campaigning,” said an official attached to the Chief Election Commission’s office here.
