New Delhi: In an interesting twist to the Babri demolition case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today moved the Supreme Court against dropping of charges against the BJP leader LK Advani and Kalyan Singh, Bal Thackeray, Uma Bharti and others.

In May, 2010 the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court upheld Lucknow CBI court order dropping criminal proceedings against Advani and 20 others
The BJP hasn’t yet responded to this politically significant move but many see the decision of the CBI in the context of the immense pressure which the BJP managed to create on the Congress led UPA II on various fronts including demands for a JPC on the 2G scam.
