New Delhi: The Supreme Court Monday asked the central government not to go ahead with the implementation of the recommendations of Justice Majathia Wage Board for working journalists and other newspaper employees for the next two weeks.

The apex court bench of Justice Balbeer Bhandari and Justice Deepak Verma, however, did not pass any formal order restraining the union government from implementing the recommendations.

The apex court order came in the course of the hearing of a petition by the Anandabazar Patrika media group, which contended that the wage board recommendations were being sought to be implemented without them being given a copy of the report.

The Justice Majathia Wage Board was set up after a gap of over a decade and had made recommendations for all newspaper employees in the country.

The board is set up under the law.
