Minority Ministry included in Governing Council of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Minority Affairs along with some other ministries has been included in the Governing Council and Executive Committee of the National Mission of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). Some new ministries have also been included in the Executive Committee of National Mission of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA). The decision to the effect was taken on 28th July by the Cabinet.

The Union Cabinet gave its approval for reconstitution of the Governing Council and Executive Committee of the National Mission of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Executive Committee of National Mission of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan. The Cabinet gave its approval for inclusion of more Ministries in these bodies of the two mega literacy schemes of the central government. The decision has been taken to ensure better convergence and coordination for implementation of SSA and RMSA in a cohesive and effective manner.

The following Ministries have been included in SSA’s Governing Council and Executive Committee:

(a) Governing Council:
i. Ministry of Tribal Affairs
ii. Ministry of Rural Development
iii. Ministry of Minority Affairs
iv. Ministry of Panchayati Raj
v. Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports
vi. Ministry of DoNER
The representation from these six Ministries will be at the level of Minister of State.

(b) Exeucitve Committee:
i. Ministry of Women & Child Development
ii. Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment
iii. Ministry of Tribal Affairs
iv. Ministry of Rural Development (Deptt. of Drinking Water & Sanitation)
v. Ministry of Minority Affairs
vi. Ministry of Panchayati Raj
vii. Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports
viii. Ministry of DoNER
The representation from these Ministries will be at the level of Secretary.

Following Ministries have been included in the Executive Committee of RMSA:
(i) Ministry of Women & Child Development
(ii) Ministry of Rural Development
(iii) Ministry of DoNER
