A meeting to bring hearts together in Jammu and Kashmir

By TCN Staff Correspondent,

New Delhi: A meeting is being organized in Jammu and Kashmir ostensibly with the purpose of not to solve any political problem but to bring the hearts of people of India closer to those of J&K. The three day (23-25 July) meeting is being organized in Doda by the RTI organization of the J&K, Chinab Valley Educational Trust and civil society groups like Asha Parivar, National Alliance for Peoples’ Movement (NAPM).

One of the main attractions of the meeting is to bring together more than two hundred activists of J&K with around hundred activists from across India.

Faisal Khan of NAPM told TwoCircles.net that this meeting will be the first of its kind where social activists from across the J&K will sit and discuss their problems with those from across India. The purpose is, Khan said “to let people from the state express their views. Usually people come from outside the state and tell people from the state. In this meeting we want every body to listen to social activists from the state.”

He also pointed out that in the ongoing development work what is missing is the humane approach towards which has made the entire idea very mechanical.

Informing about the agenda of the meeting Khan said mainly just three issues will be discussed in the meeting at the end of which a declaration will be passed which will be the guideline for the work ahead.

Faisal Khan claimed from his interaction with the people of the state, that they are very enthusiastic about the meeting and want to hear some thing new instead of activism which is centered on a particular personality.

Dr. Muzaffar Bhatt RTI activist of J&K and Shahabul Haque an educationist f the state are coordinator and assistant coordinator of the organizing committee.
