By TCN News,

Thiruvananthapuram: The reason for denying (me) seat should be asked to those who took the decisions, said MM Hassan, KPCC spokesperson. I don’t know why I was denied seat and I will ask the reason after the elections, he said.

When asked about Muslim organizations coming out in protest against the denial of seat to him, Hassan reportedly said that he was a secularist and not to confine him to a Muslim alone. He added he had not asked any consideration from the party for being a Muslim, according to reports. He kept away from the function of release of the UDF election manifesto because of personal reasons. Regarding the news reports that he had kept flex boards ready for his election campaign, Hassan said that there was nothing unusual about those who are sure of candidacy to make the necessary arrangements.

Mr Hassan also said that the party was more important for him. The party may need me for the organizational activities, and I will abide by it, he reportedly said.

MM Hassan is a senior leader of the Congress and has been MLA several times. He has also served as Minister in the state Assembly. He took the lead in forming the ‘Janasree’ Mission of the party aimed at attracting more women to the mass base of the party. He was the convener of the committee to form the election manifesto of the UDF. In spite of being in the front for several such activities of the Congress and the UDF, he was denied seat to the Assembly, which attracted criticism from many quarters.
