By IANS,

New Delhi: It was a relaxed Kanimozhi, the DMK parliamentarian, who left the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court Saturday after it deferred verdict on her bail plea in the 2G spectrum case till May 20.

The court also deferred till May 20 its order on the bail plea of Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar, who is also a co-accused in the case.

The courtroom, which was jam-packed since 9.30 a.m., was almost empty immediately after Judge Saini deferred the case at 10.05 a.m.

Kanimozhi, dressed in a green salwar-kurta, was escorted by her husband Aravindan and mother Rajathi Ammal to mark her presence before Special Judge O.P. Saini.

DMK parliamentarian T.R. Balu was also present.

As soon the judge delivered his statement, Kanimozhi broke into a broad smile, visibly relieved.

“I am always relaxed, nothing worries me,” she said while leaving the court.

This mood was noticeable even while she was in the court room during the scrutiny of the documents. She was seen talking to former communications minister A. Raja, who is now in judicial custody in Tihar jail, and other accused in the case.

The CBI had named Kanimozhi, daughter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, and Sharad Kumar as co-conspirators in its April 25 supplementary chargesheet after it traced an illegal money trail of Rs.214 crore.

Asif Balwa and Rajiv B. Agarwal of Kusegaon Realty, also named as co-conspirators, were present in the court room.

The fifth co-conspirator, Cineyug Film’s Karim Morani was not present as he got exemption from personal appearance due to his ill health. However, he will have to appear before the court May 18.
