Two NATO helicopters violated Pakistan air space at Admi Kot post in North Waziristan Agency in the early hours of Tuesday, a Pakistan Army spokesman said here.

The troops at the post fired upon the helicopters and as a result of exchange of fire, two soldiers received injuries, the spokesman added.

Military sources revealed that NATO helicopters had to turn back as the troops opened indiscriminate firing at the choppers. The action was taken to warn NATO against targeting Pakistan check-posts, the sources said.

According to the Online News, the Pakistan Army has called for a flag meeting with the NATO forces commanders over the incident.

Following Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden’s killing by the US commandos in Pakistan’s Abbottabad city, the authorities in Pakistan had viewed the US military action as violation of country’s sovereignity.

On May 12, Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned US Ambassador Cameron Munter to protest the raid by US special forces in Abbottabad that led to Osama bin Laden’s death May 2.

The envoy was reportedly told by Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir that the American operation on Pakistani soil was an attack on the country’s security and sovereignty.
