AMU announces schedule for ex-student elections

Aligarh: In order to comply with the directives of the Allahabad high court, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on November 20, declared the election schedule for the election of 25 representatives among Ex-students, to the University Court under Statute 14(1) (xx) of the University Statutes.

According to Prof. Najmul Islam, chief election officer, AMU, polling for voters of Aligarh will be held on January 14, 2012, while ballot paper will be sent through speed post on December 22, 2011 to individual members whose addresses are of outside Aligarh. The last date for the receipt of postal ballots is January 14, 2012”.

Islam further informed that the last date for submitting supplementary voters list, meant only for those members who have now became eligible in accordance with Statute 43 of the University Statutes; and whose names are not there in the already notified voters list as November 28th. Besides he declared the last date for submitting the complete information about the AMU Old Boys’ Associations members too as November 28th.

The objections can be filed up till December 3rd and final voter’s list will be notified on December 10th. The nomination process will be completed from December 15th to17th, 2011 and can be withdrawn on December 19th by 3 pm. The vote counting will be done on January 14th, 2012 from 6 pm and the results will be declared as soon as the counting gets completed.
