Not bought assets after becoming chief minister: Jayalalithaa

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Monday declared in the assembly that she has not acquired any new asset since she assumed office in May.

Responding to S.K. Tamilarasan of Republican Party who cited a news report that said Tamil Nadu chief minister has not declared her assets, Jayalalithaa referred to her election affidavit where she had declared assets valued Rs.51 crore – both movable and immovable.

Jayalalithaa said it is mandatory for every candidate contesting in an assembly or parliament seat to declare the asset details and accordingly she had filed an affidavit while filing her nomination for the Srirangam seat for the April polls.

Jayalalithaa said she had stated in the election affidavit that she has movable assets worth Rs.13.03 crore and immovable assets worth Rs.38.37 crore.

She also said that after assuming charge as chief minister she had not bought any property.
